The book by Evita Arapoglou is the result of many years of dedication, an immense love, I would say, for the subject it examines. As one can easily ascertain as soon as they begin to flip through its pages, it is a book that has been studied, designed, written, and completed to essentially highlight the invaluable contribution of Nikos Chatzikyriacos - Gikas to the Benaki Museum.

The donation not only of the works that constitute the content of his Gallery but also anything that beautifies the spaces of his residence, his archives, his books, his furniture, or the precious artworks of his collections, but also the entire mansion at Kriezotou Street 3, which belonged to him. Kriezotou 3 is, after all, the title that Evita gave to her book.

In this building, the entirety of the offered useful spaces was designed and reconfigured so as to exclusively serve the cultural goals of the Benaki Museum, as the Administrative Committee of the Foundation rightly and with remarkable foresight decided.

The Museum's decision to add yet another satellite branch to the organizational structure of the system it has already chosen to decentralize its activities was made with an eye on today's, but primarily on tomorrow's needs of our country.

For the current market prices, anything related to letters, arts, and intellectual cultivation in general may not hold great value. However, there is no doubt that there will come a time when our real assets and the 'market' value of their individual components will ultimately be reassessed, so that the unfortunately established opinions regarding what constitutes productive investment and what the long-term economic potentials of cultural products may be can be critically reexamined.

Only then will both the stance of the state and the position of its citizens towards anything related to essential priorities and urgent needs perhaps be reconsidered.
