I wanted a 32-inch curved 4K with at least 240 Hz, and not OLED to avoid the risk of burn-in, since I will mainly be doing office work. Theoretically, this was the best I found, but it has the following problems:

1. When Windows 10 turns off the monitors (I have 4 including the Samsung) after the idle time I have set, the Samsung goes into some kind of deep stand-by, and when I move the mouse and the monitors turn back on, the Samsung is so asleep that Windows thinks it has been disconnected. After 1-2 seconds it turns on and Windows recognizes it as a new monitor, any window I had there has moved to the other monitors and I have to put them back where I want, and the Windows night light blinks once (this confirms that Windows sees it as if it was just connected now). This happens with a Displayport cable and not HDMI, and ChatGPT said that HDMI and Displayport behave differently in standby, and Samsung has aggressive power saving that causes this problem only with Displayport. I didn't expect to get a monitor with start-stop like a car at a traffic light.
2. The 1000R curve is excessive, so much so that the Samsung looks smaller than the 32-inch Dell S3220DGF I have which is 1800R and has a uniform curve, while the Samsung is very curved in the center and flatter at the edges.
3. There are scan lines at 240 Hz, as I have read happens to many who have this monitor and it's a matter of luck, but they are not visible unless you look for them. And at 240 Hz there is a bit of coil whine. Nothing terrible, but I can hear it if it's quiet.
4. In the monitor menu you can set maximum Hz to 120 or 240. I set it to 240 and now the setting is grayed out and I can't change it. From Windows I can normally though, it has options for 30, 60, 120 and 240.

I might use it as a second monitor, mainly because it looks smaller than the Dell, and it bothers me that the main monitor is not the largest.

Purchased a few days ago for €845 and coming from a 27-inch Samsung 2k resolution monitor with 144 Hz. Generally, I was quite satisfied with the monitor I already had, but I wanted a powerful purchase for my console so that I could enjoy the games I play in 4k. Probably, if this particular screen is intended only for console gaming, it is overkill, and I admit myself that its capabilities are not fully utilized, as it can reach 240 Hz at high resolutions among many other features it has. However, since I had the opportunity to buy it and because games are my passion, the purpose for which it was purchased not only is fulfilled but also exceeds any expectations you have about what you expect to see when you turn it on. I will list below the relevant positives and negatives that exist (it should be emphasized that what I write concerns my experience, with my PS5 connected):

Positives:
- Flawless 4k gaming at 120 Hz and with a very satisfying HDR (I believe that on regular TVs there might be better HDR, but since we are talking about a monitor, what it has is very good, and the difference before and after is definitely noticeable to the eye).
- The monitor's menu is very easy to use and provides you with many settings regarding the modification of the various features it offers, from the simplest like brightness, contrast to activating and how strong you want the local dimming, even changing the ratio of the colors themselves (there is an option from 0 to 100 for the colors Red-Green-Blue), thus giving you the exact picture you wish to have.
- I will also put the curvature in the positives, which when you are exactly in front and at the center of the screen, embraces your vision and makes you feel the game even more alive.
- I didn't believe it was noticeable to the eye, but indeed this screen does not suffer from ghosting! Combined with the 1ms response, they provide immense immediacy to whatever you are playing.

Negatives:
- I mentioned the curvature in the positives; unfortunately, it also constitutes a negative because if you are positioned in front and center of the screen, there is the immersive experience you seek in games, but if you move a little to the right or left, you immediately lose your visual and see the colors "breaking" and the screen blurring. For most, this may not be a problem, as we all sit directly in front of the screen, but I mention it because I noticed it immediately when I changed my body position.
- The local dimming did not satisfy me, although it is a feature that Samsung advertises for this product as a selling point. Perhaps I haven't utilized it correctly, but in all the games I tried it in, I found it annoying to my eyes even on low. I will return in the future for an update regarding this specific issue, but for now, my eyes are more relaxed with it turned off.
- I think for most (as well as for me) the huge base of the monitor is an issue. Okay, I understand that a sturdy construction is needed with such a design that can hold the Odyssey Neo G8, which weighs 7 kg, but I do not accept from Samsung this patent with the fork any longer! There are monitors on the market of similar sizes that have a square-shaped base and can comfortably and safely hold it. I will never understand this obsession that Samsung has with the "V" stands that not only require half the desk to place them but in the case of the G8, the stand may seem cumbersome for many, as it extends quite a bit outward so that a mouse can find its place at the edge of the stand!

Neutral:
- There is a feature called "infinity core lighting" available, and when you activate it, lighting turns on at the back of the screen, which you can customize in colors and functions that you like. I don't consider it a positive because the lighting is at such a level that on a colored wall, it may not be visible at all. At the same time, I don't consider it negative either because on a white wall, it is sufficient to be visible at night.
- For your information, along with the monitor, Samsung also provides support for a wall mount, so if you already have a wall or desk mount, you won't need to buy any other accessory.
- The monitor can rotate 360 degrees and can also tilt to a certain angle to the left and right.

I believe this monitor is aimed at a very specific segment of people who either want the maximum in terms of image quality and competitiveness or have the financial means to acquire it, being aware of what they will get and how they will use it. I find it very likely that you can find similar or even the same image for console gaming by purchasing a more budget-friendly 4K monitor, but what sets it apart from all the others is the performance one can achieve in PC gaming. At the approximately 800 euros I bought it for, I am extremely satisfied. It is the best monitor in the 4K 32-inch category. I knew beforehand everything I wanted to learn about what it can do and offer, but if you want my opinion, I believe it is not worth more than 1000€ (some stores, as far as I have seen, price it up to 1500€) because after all, no matter what we say and how much we can talk all day about specifications and performance, monitors simply provide the means for you to see what you want to play and enjoy the few hours you have to spare. That is why I was very skeptical before purchasing it due to its price and was waiting for it to drop significantly so I could acquire it. Think very carefully before you buy it, and I encourage you to look for videos that demonstrate everything this particular monitor offers.

***Update (22/10/2024)***
I would like to apologize for my negative opinion regarding local dimming, which may have misled someone while reading it. Before commenting on Samsung's feature in the Neo G8, I want to say that this monitor, as nice as it looks out of the box with the preset settings, can look even better using the appropriate ratios. With a simple internet search, I found detailed settings to optimize the image, and since then, I have actually started using local dimming. I think that before I made changes, local dimming bothered my eyes because in combination with some other setting I had activated or increased, it created an annoyingly intense brightness on the screen in bright colors. In the end, it seems that local dimming adds the finishing touch to make this particular screen something special. Essentially, the technology of local dimming activates the 1 million mini LED pixels that are behind the screen, in order to provide even more detail. It is definitely something that I will never turn off again since the difference it makes is enormous. Those of you who have or want to get the G8, keep this in mind and I hope I helped.
