Fluorescent bench light which contains a T5 13W cool white 6000K fluorescent lamp and an electronic ballast.

Positives: Small, lightweight, easy to install, very easy lamp replacement and connection, and immediate lamp ignition, but this has a negative impact on the longevity/lifespan of fluorescent lamps. Fluorescent lamps should have a delay of 2-4 seconds to preheat properly. Not that this method will destroy the lamp, it just reduces the lamp's lifespan a little or a lot, but it will last for years, especially if it is a fluorescent lamp of older manufacture before 2017; these will last at least 7-8 years even with very frequent on/off and immediate ignition because I had several fluorescent lights with electronic ballasts that turned on the lamp immediately like this one and they have lasted me 8-10 years and more even though I turned them on and off very often!

Negatives: Difficult and time-consuming replacement of the electronic ballast or even impossible in case of ballast failure, not very high quality in construction, looks quite fake and the electronic ballast which is used to operate the fluorescent lamp and is located inside the lighting body, is essentially a board in the air in between without the external cover as all have! On one hand, this is good because it will heat up less, but the lighting body is aluminum, resulting in a constant risk that the contacts behind the board or the board itself may touch the aluminum casing/lighting body and if this happens, in the best case it will short-circuit and in the worst case it will burn out immediately. And unfortunately, this light is fixed and very difficult to open from the sides where the lamp base is, meaning you have to cut the wires to access inside and remove the ballast if it is damaged, and then you have to re-solder the wires, which is best done with solder, but this is very difficult because the space is very limited, everything inside is cramped and only the board fits in there, so in other words, throw it away and get a new one if there is a ballast failure!
