«Krapp's Last Tape» was Patrick Magee's first performance at the Royal Court Theatre in October 1958 and is described as "a solo, if that is the word, for one voice and two instruments: one human, one mechanical. It occupies a few pages. It is perhaps the most original and important work of its length that has ever been written." (Roy Walker) This edition gathers "Krapp's Last Tape" and other short works by Beckett or "little dramas" that have been written for the stage. It will be complemented by an upcoming Faber edition of dramatic works written for radio and screen. These short pieces are presented in chronological order of creation and focus on the spare means and compassionate purposes of Beckett's dramatic vision. KRAPP "Here I end this film. Box - [Pause.] - three, film - [Pause.] - five. [Pause.] Perhaps my best years are gone. When there was a chance of happiness. But I wouldn’t want them back. Not with the fire inside me now. No, I wouldn’t want them back. [Staring motionless ahead.]
