«Oh would some power the gift give us, to see ourselves as others see us!» - Robert Burns

Robert Burns, poet and lyrical writer, also known as Rabbie Burns, is widely regarded as the National Poet of Scotland. Many of his works have become part of everyday contemporary language: «The best laid schemes o' mice and men...», «To see her is to love her...». He is often credited with the writing of the verse for Auld Lang Syne and almost single-handedly inspired the movement that preserved Scottish music and lyrics that had been passed down orally for centuries, thus maintaining Scottish culture and language.

As a cultural symbol and pioneer of Romanticism, Burns was voted the greatest Scot in a poll in 2009. This collection includes some of his most beloved and beautiful creations.
