The "Modern Dictionary of Ancient Greek Language (Vocabolario della lingua greca, 3rd edition, Turin 2013) represents a 17-year effort and collective work of a group of 40 people under the direction of Professor Franco Montanari of the University of Genoa. With approximately 140,000 entries, it covers 1400 years of the history of the Greek language (up to Byzantine writers such as John Malalas). It is essentially the first dictionary of ancient Greek in the 21st century and is based on the complete corpus of Greek literature (in the electronic Thesaurus Linguae Graecae), as well as the best critical editions of the authors that it used as a basis. It has already been translated into German and English by leading ancient Greek scholars.
