It has three ring tones with three volume options, which I liked. As for the mute function, I haven't tried it because I use it as a backup for the wireless one. It's fine.

    There is no option to stay in silent mode forever.
    When it goes into silent mode, the sound comes back on the next lift of the earphone.
    So if you want it for the bedroom, it doesn't work.
