This volume constitutes the Second Part of a trilogy dedicated to Comparative Balkan Studies, specifically focusing on the written and oral culture of Southeastern Europe. The first volume was devoted to literature from the 15th century to the early decades of the 20th century (Literature and Theatre among the Peoples of Southeastern Europe [15th - early 20th century). The second volume deals with the linguistic expressions of traditional oral culture (The Oral Literature of Southeastern Europe). The third volume will study the representational and imaginative elements of folk culture, within which the linguistic expressions are embedded.
