Each selection has been reworked and the order of the poems has been reclassified based on revised timelines or other considerations. All headings are new or updated, while many footnotes have been added, replaced, or revised.
The "Critique" reflects the recent resurgence in Shelley studies, the largest revival since 1870-92. All twenty-three essays are new to the Second Edition. Among them are works by Harold Bloom, Stuart Curran, Annette Wheeler Cafarelli, Michael Ferber, James Chandler, and Susan J. Wolfson.
A Timeline, an updated Selected Bibliography, and a Catalog of Titles and First Lines are included.
