The TP-LINK MC220L v4.20 media converter converts 1000BASE-SX/LX fiber-optic connections to 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet, or vice versa. It supports the IEEE 802.3i, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab, and IEEE 802.3z standards. Transmission distances over fiber reach up to 0.55 km over multimode fiber and up to 10 km over single-mode fiber.

The RJ45 port supports auto-negotiation and Auto-MDI/MDIX, as well as half-duplex and full-duplex operation. The FX port supports hot swapping. The converter can be used standalone or with the TL-MC1400 rackmount chassis.
