The social psychology -like all psychology in general- has greatly devalued and ignored both the historicity of its object and the historicity of its own emergence and gradual formation as a scientific field.
This obscuration of its historicity, sometimes deliberate and other times merely the result of institutional neglect, has been transmitted -and continues to be transmitted- from handbook to handbook, reaching pandemic levels.
The education and socialization of the student within a social psychology that takes place in a spatio-temporal void, consisting only of experiments and theoretical models and free from any substantial reference to broader social conditions, has proven to be an effective tactic for imposing a specific model of experimental social psychology as the only Social Psychology.
In other words, the lack of substantial historical topography in the field has allowed and allows the experimental (now cognitive experimental) school to monopolize the term social psychology and to self-title as the only scientific approach in the field.
This is, therefore, an ideological practice that projects a very specific model for the human being: an isolated individual within a mechanistic, factory-based, industrial framework.
