The instructions are terrible; I would have given them a lower rating, but the quality won out. So, we start by screwing the crash bars in using the rear bolt; this will practically be our guide, where the two bars sit. This bolt is central, a little behind the gear lever; it goes through with a nut on the other side and is installed with large spacers (don't worry about the bike, it is not going anywhere; there are other bolts holding the engine to the frame). ATTENTION: the bolt we remove will be placed higher up on the neck, since they have put the wrong bolts; this particular one only fits there because it also needs spacers. If you have footpegs, they work and fit perfectly on the middle bolt; if you don't have footpegs, you put 2 spacers on each side; if you do have footpegs, you only put the large spacer and one thick washer on each side. All the spacers on each side must be the same. As I said, the instructions are terrible and the bolts are wrong; I installed them myself on a Yamaha XT 660R 2004 model (you could say first series). I secured the bike on a center stand; the center stand helps a lot. Note: we adjust the gear lever a little, because otherwise it will hit the crash bars. THAT'S ALL FROM ME
