In addition, besides the exhausting insomnia, he is called to simultaneously tackle three cases: to discover who and why is threatening the life of a teenage daughter of a former soap opera star, to solve the mystery of the murder of an engineer in a factory where there is a relentless struggle between the strikers and the management, and to search for the folk hero and leader of the Mexican Revolution, Emiliano Zapata, for whom there are reports that he was not killed but is hiding in a cave outside Mexico City.

The novel A Simple Case is the second in the series featuring the now famous detective Belascoarán Shayne by Paco Ignacio Taibo II, who established him as one of the most important and influential stylists of Latin American detective fiction. With a strong element of black comedy and references to social history, Taibo weaves a thrilling and mysterious narrative against the dark backdrop of Mexico City.
