Amateur radio station broadcasts, AM, FM broadcasts, TV sound, and a variety of other communications can be received and reproduced.

The VSC circuit opens the squelch circuit only when a modulated signal is detected and ignores unmodulated noise. It is useful for listeners scanning speech communications, news, and music.
