Yatome is the sweet president of the shogi (Japanese chess) club at her high school, and she is quite sure that her younger classmate, Ayumu, the only other club member, has a big crush on her. They meet every day after school to play shogi, but no matter what she does, she can't convince or trick him into expressing his feelings! What she doesn't know is that Ayumu has made a pact with himself to reveal his love after he defeats her in shogi for the first time. However, there is a big problem with this plan - he is not good at all!
