This is a bilingual (Greek and English) luxurious album published by "Despina Kyriakidi" Press in collaboration with the Society of Macedonian Studies, focusing on the Patriarchal Church of St. George in Constantinople, on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the enthronement of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
After the published patriarchal letter, the work is introduced by the president of the Society of Macedonian Studies, Nikolaos I. Mertzos, and the sponsor of the publication, Nikolaos Emm. Manos.
Subsequently, Dr. Evangelos Hekimoglou, an economic historian and expert in historical topography, with his study "From the Holy Apostles to the Phanar: Reevaluation of the Relocations of the Patriarchal House," outlines the sequence of successive relocations of the Patriarchate from 1454 to the early 17th century.
Associate Professor Thalia Mantopoulou – Panagiotopoulou from the School of Fine Arts of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an expert in the history of church architecture, with her study "The Patriarchal Church of St. George in Constantinople," describes the establishment (before February 1601) of the Ecumenical Patriarchate at the small monastery of St. George, the construction of the Patriarchal Church in 1614, the erection of the current church in 1720, and then analyzes the typology of the church.
Associate Professor Maria Kazamia – Tsernou from the Department of Theology of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an expert in the history of iconography, with her study "Regarding the Icons of the Patriarchal Church," meticulously describes twenty icons of the Sacred Church of St. George.
Finally, in the Appendix of the book, the bibliographer of travelers, Alexandros H. Grigoriou, presents "Testimonies of Travelers about the Patriarchal Church of St. George (1605-1908)." The work is enriched with abundant archival, bibliographic, photographic, and iconographic material.
