The Teutonic Knights were a military order dedicated to expanding Christianity eastwards into the non-Christian areas of the Baltic and Russia. They gradually expanded their control over various hostile Baltic tribes until they confronted the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, a relatively organized and cohesive state. The book is fully illustrated and examines the fighters on both sides, assessing their origins, tactics, weaponry, and combat effectiveness in three key engagements of the Lithuanian Crusade.
