The new Code of Judicial Organization and Status of Judicial Officials was ratified by Law 4938/2022 and is in effect from June 6, 2022.
The new Code replaced the previous one ratified by Law 1756/1988, which had undergone a significant number of amendments in recent years.
According to the explanatory report of Law 4938/2022, the purpose of the new Code is the modernization, harmonization of provisions with European and international developments in the field of judicial organization, and the elimination of dysfunctions identified during the long period of application of the existing legislative framework.
This edition has been updated to include Law 5028/2023 (Government Gazette A' 54/9.3.2023).
