A 5-year-old boy, Ethan, is brought to Casey in the middle of the night after the sudden death of his young mother from a drug overdose. His mother, estranged from her parents, had been abused by her former partner and began using drugs to cope with the situation. Ethan is obviously lost and confused, regularly waking up screaming for his mother at night. He starts attacking other children at school, and his behavior becomes more explosive. When arrangements are made for him to see his father in prison, Casey recognizes the name and the face... It turns out she is much more familiar with this case than initially seemed.
