Description

You learn from experience, you feel and you understand.

Ideas/Values/Emotions of the book: Egoism-Pride | Self-awareness | Right and wrong.

The book: One day, Magda the little hen sees herself in the mirror and does not recognize herself. She thinks she is facing another hen. Magda becomes angry when she asks the "stranger" and receives no answer, when she mimics her movements and facial expressions. Furious, she decides to teach the "other" hen a lesson. And then she performs the... great feat. Her friends admire her and decide to make her the President. But what did they suddenly discover that made them drive her out of the coop?

The series: In order for children to secure a healthy social life based on effective relationships, they must cultivate empathy, the ability to put themselves in others' shoes, to understand and feel things in the same way another person experiences them. This need is addressed by the illustrated books of this series, which promote emotional intelligence. Through the proposed approach for parents and educators, they attempt to introduce children to see the world through others' eyes, after first learning to recognize and manage their own emotions.

The author: Yolanda Tsoronis-Georgiadi is a graduate of the Law School, the Pedagogical Academy, and the Pedagogical Department of the University of Athens and has trained at the Marasleio Teaching College. She has worked for many years in public education, writes articles for educational magazines, is an active member of the Women's Literary Society, and has published many books for children, novels for adults, and studies of folkloric content.
