Right from the start, I should say that they require some getting used to. You need to understand what they offer in order to appreciate them and not be put off. Their description as headphones for precision listening, mixing and mastering is accurate. It’s like buying monitors instead of speakers. They are neutral and flat, which is not a problem; you just boost the bass a little and enjoy the music. But to do that, they need an amplifier to drive them. A phone or a computer simply can’t (a small DAC will help, but they will still be underutilized).
Sonically, they offer a wide stereo image and great detail, which is also their classic characteristic. This may automatically seem positive, but some people won’t like it at first, maybe never, because they’ll be looking for the oomph. In any case, you get used to it and it’s worth it, because this is the natural sound that breathes (see open-back) and not the muffled, bass-heavy sound that gives the impression of airtightness. It also leaks sound to the people next to you.
In terms of quality, they are worthy of their price, with good finish, good build, and good materials. They are made in China, not that you can tell from anywhere.
On the plus side, replacement ear pads are available on the market. On the minus side, they don’t have the thick cable with the ribbed sheath of the older models—details, okay.
In terms of comfort, they are fine; here too it takes a little getting used to how they sit on the head and around the ears. The headband is wide, leather, and flat. The ear pads are comfortable and don’t get hot. As for stability, they clamp just enough so they don’t move easily and don’t cause fatigue. Needless to say, their size rules out use outside the home.
Conclusion: If you are a listener who has a hi-fi system and occasionally wants to listen with headphones, they are worth it. If you are a laptop/phone user who wants to have a pair of wired headphones as well, these are probably overkill.
Ευθύς εξαρχής να πω ότι απαιτούν εξοικείωση. Να καταλάβεις τι προσφέρουν ώστε να το εκτιμήσεις και να μη ξενερώσεις. Η περιγραφή τους ως ακουστικά for precision listening, mixing and mastering είναι ακριβής. Είναι σαν να αγοράζεις μόνιτορ αντί για ηχεία. Είναι ουδέτερα και flat, κάτι που δεν είναι πρόβλημα, απλώς θα τονίσεις λίγο τα μπάσα και θα απολαύσεις μουσική. Αλλά για να γίνει αυτό χρειάζονται έναν ενισχυτή να τα οδηγήσει. Ένα κινητό ή ένας υπολογιστής απλώς δεν μπορεί (ένα μικρο dac θα βοηθησει αλλά και πάλι θα υποαξιοποιούνται).
Ηχητικά προσφέρουν ευρεία στερεοφωνική εικόνα, και μεγάλη αναλυτικότητα που είναι και το κλασικό τους χαρακτηριστικό. Αυτό μπορεί να φαντάζει αυτομάτως θετικό αλλά σε κάποιους δεν θα αρέσει με την πρώτη, ίσως και ποτέ, γιατί θα ψάχνουν το oomph. Πάντως συνηθίζεται και αξίζει διότι αυτός είναι ο φυσικός ήχος που αναπνέει (βλ. open-back) και όχι ο πνιγμένος μπασάτος που δίνει εντύπωση αεροστεγανότητας. Επίσης διαρρέει και στους διπλανούς.
Από άποψης ποιότητας είναι αντάξια της τιμής τους, με καλό φινίρισμα, καλή συναρμογή, καλά υλικά. Είναι made in China, όχι ότι αυτό το καταλαβαίνεις από κάπου.
Στα (+) ότι υπάρχουν στο εμπόριο ανταλλακτικά μαξιλαράκια. Στα (-) ότι δεν έχουν το χοντρό καλώδιο με το γραμμωτό περίβλημα των παλιότερων μοντέλων -λεπτομέρειες οκ.
Από άνεση είναι εντάξει, θέλει κι εδώ λίγη συνήθεια πώς κάθονται πάνω στο κεφάλι και πάνω στην περίμετρο των αυτιών. Η στέκα είναι φαρδιά, δερμάτινη και επίπεδη. Τα μαξιλαράκια είναι άνετα και δεν ζεσταίνουν. Από σταθερότητα σφίγγουν τόσο όσο να μην μετακινούνται εύκολα και να μην κουράζουν. Εννοείται ότι το μέγεθος τους αποκλείει χρήση εκτός σπιτιού.
Συμπέρασμα: Αν είστε ένας ακροατής που διαθέτει ηχοσύστημα και ενίοτε θέλει να ακούει με ακουστικά αξίζουν. Αν είστε χρήστης λάπτοπ/κινητού που θέλει να έχει και ένα ζευγάρι ενσύρματα ακουστικά τα συγκεκριμένα μάλλον είναι overkill.
