▫️A few words about the book: Before We Say Goodbye is the 4th book in the "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" series by Toshikazu Kawaguchi and, as with the previous ones, it takes us back to the small and cozy café where our characters can travel through time! The stories are independent from the other books, but they maintain the same warm atmosphere. Once again, the characters are searching for answers, comfort, or at least want to say a final goodbye to those they couldn't.
▪️Style/Writing: Kawaguchi's writing is simple, emotional, and almost theatrical, since the book is written like a play! There are no great twists and certainly the book's dynamic does not rely on that.
▫️Why I loved it: The book evokes emotions, while the simplicity of the everyday people who visit it in order to travel through time, even for such a short period, creates a sense of familiarity. Also, every time I pick up the next book in the series, I feel like I am returning to a place of my own!
▪️Why you should read it: If you have read the previous books in the series, you too will feel like you are coming home! It may not give you something seemingly new, but once again it will make you reconsider events and give you that breath of tenderness you might be seeking.
