After 3 weeks since the purchase, it's time for the review.
This is the first foldable I've bought after years of following the market for this type of phone with astronomical prices from 1500 to 2500 euros, and concerns about the durability of the inner screen.
I bought this phone brand new from a major chain (the only one that brings Pixel (Google) to Greece) that had it on offer for 699 euros along with 20% cashback with a *** Greek bank card. So, about 560 euros + 60 euros for 1-year protection for anything that might happen. The review is valid for this amount:
Positives: It's a beautiful device, thin (for a foldable), seems durable with a mechanism borrowed from the Microsoft Surface Duo. With a Cosmote SIM, you get 5G, WiFi calling, VoLTE immediately, and it received Android 16 when others are still waiting for 15 (see Samsung). After years, it brought back the excitement of something different (since you carry both a phone and a small tablet in your pocket), after many changes of Android or iPhone flagships. The G2 Tensor processor is supposedly not fast for gaming, but I play Diablo Immortal just fine, with the phone heating up as expected (while on the inner screen, games are a 'different experience'). Photos are at Pixel 7 Pro level with 5x optical zoom. The main and telephoto cameras are still used in the regular Pixel 10, just mentioning it...
Very fast in daily operation. Sound is very good for a thin device.
Negatives: Normally, I would start with the price, but with Google's price drop to attract people to foldables, kudos to them. Samsung or Honor start from 1300 and up, so @#$#@ give us a break.
It heats up sooner than my S23 Ultra in games and camera use. It has never shut down due to heat, nor does it get excessively hot (the software has improved a lot since 2023).
Battery is good, since you mostly use the outer 5.8-inch screen during the day, because it's wide, as it should be. Doing the same things, it's about 10% worse than the S23 Ultra over 24 hours. Generally, it lasts the day and has 20-30% left with my usage (everything on, 5G, WiFi, VoLTE, Bluetooth with Huawei GT3 Pro watch always connected). It also has 7.5W wireless charging and 21W wired, no matter what charger over 30W you use. Charging takes about 2 hours if you drain it (I charge it at night).
Weight is 285g, 50 grams heavier than the S23 Ultra, doesn't bother me.
Just mentioning the large bezels around, the crease in the middle, and that the inner screen opens to 179 and not 180 degrees. In my opinion, these are silly complaints, for American reviewers.
Conclusion: It has become my main device now since the folding screen gives you new possibilities, it's something else (e.g., ebook reader, gaming, also apps have been upgraded and now display across the whole screen if you were concerned by early 2023 reviews where they appeared only on one side). Also, I installed Smart Launcher 6, which is free, giving you a different layout on the outer and inner screens. Case ordered directly from Amazon, aramid fiber material, Kaisenkeg brand with MagSafe (was looking for Pitaka but they don't sell anymore).
If anything breaks, I'll let you know. Anyway, the impression it gives is that it's a sturdy device, unless an elephant sits on it (JerryRigEverything).

Update after 5 months of continuous use without much pampering. The inner screen is like new, no peeling, etc., still a different experience. Everything works as it should, good signal, WiFi calling, 5G, etc. Games up to 15 minutes don't lose frames, after that it starts to heat up and lag annoyingly. As for the battery, I finish the 24 hours with 20% left (5 hours screen on time), everything on. It has left an S25 Ultra on the bench, I use it for a day and then go back to this one, since I'm not a photographer but I am a bit blind. Small scratches after several drops on the edge of the outer screen since I never use the front protection. The glass is still like new. I won't be surprised if the iPhone Fold, when it comes out, looks like this one since when it opens it's a parallelogram and not square like others. Finally, it takes very good photos after all, as expected from a Pixel. Bye...
Μετά από 3 εβδομάδες από την αγορά ήρθε η ώρα του review.
Είναι το πρώτο foldable που αγοράζω μετά από χρόνια που παρακολουθώ την αγορά αυτού του τύπου των κινητών με αστρονομικές τιμές από 1500 έως 2500 ευρώ, και ενδοιασμούς σε σχέση με την ανθεκτικότητα της εσωτερικής οθόνης.
Το εν λόγω κινητό το αγόρασα καινούργιο από μεγάλη αλυσίδα (τη μόνη που φέρνει Pixel (google) στην Ελλάδα) που το είχε προσφορά 699 ευρώ μαζί με 20% επιστροφή χρημάτων με κάρτα *** ελληνικής τράπεζας. Άρα κοντά 560 ευρώ + 60 ευρώ για προστασία για 1χρόνο σε οτιδήποτε και να πάθει. Η αξιολόγηση ισχύει για αυτά τα χρήματα:
Θετικά: Είναι πανέμορφη συσκευή, λεπτή (για foldable), φαίνεται ανθεκτική με τον μηχανισμό να είναι δανεισμένος από το Microsoft surface duo. Με κάρτα cosmote πήρες 5g, wificalling, voLTE άμεσα και πήρε android 16 όταν οι άλλοι ακόμη περιμένουν το 15 (βλέπε samsung). Μου προξένησε μετά από χρόνια τον ενθουσιασμό του διαφορετικού (αφού στην τσέπη σου κουβαλάς κινητό και μικρό tablet), μετά από αρκετές αλλαγές κινητών android ή iphones από το πάνω ράφι. Ο επεξεργαστής G2 tensor δεν είναι υποτίθεται γρήγορος για παιχνίδια, αλλά εγώ το Diablo immortal το παίζω κανονικά με το κινητό να θερμαίνεται αναμενόμενα (ενώ στην έσω οθόνη τα παιχνίδια είναι "άλλη φάση"). Φωτογραφίες επιπέδου Pixel 7pro με 5xοπτικό zoom. Η βασική κάμερα και η telephoto χρησιμοποιούνται ακόμη στο απλό Pixel 10, απλά το αναφέρω..
Ταχύτατο σε καθημερινή λειτουργία. Ήχος πολύ καλός για λεπτή συσκευή.
Αρνητικά: Κανονικά θα άρχιζα από την τιμή, αλλά με την πτώση που κάνει η google για να μυήσει κόσμο στον χώρο των foldable μπράβο της. Η samsung ή η Honor τα πάει από 1300 και πάνω, δλδ @#$#@ άσε μας.
Ζεσταίνεται νωρίτερα από το S23 ultra μου σε παιχνίδια και χρήση κάμερας. Δεν έχει κλείσει ποτέ λόγω θερμότητας, ούτε το πιάνω να θερμαίνεται πολύ (έχει προχωρήσει πολύ το software από το 2023).
Μπαταρία καλή, επειδή χρησιμοποιείς κανονικά την περισσότερη μέρα την έξω 5,8 ιντσών οθόνη, γιατί είναι φαρδιά, όπως πρέπει. Κάνοντας τα ίδια πράγματα το 24ωρο είναι ένα 10% χειρότερη από το s23 ultra. Γενικά το 24ωρο το βγάζει και μένει ένα 20-30% με τη δική μου χρήση (όλα ανοιχτά, 5g, wifi, volte, bluetooth με ρολόι huawei gt3 pro μόνιμα συνδεδεμένο). Έχει και ασύρματη φόρτιση 7.5w και ενσύρματα 21 w ότι και φορτιστή να βάλεις μεγαλύτερο του 30W. Παίρνει ~2ωρο η φόρτιση, αν το έχεις αδειάσει (εγώ το βάζω βράδυ).
Βάρος 285gr, 50 γραμμάρια βαρύτερο από το s23 ultra, δεν με ενοχλεί.
Απλά αναφέρω τα μεγάλα περιγράμματα (bezels) πέριξ, το αυλάκη στην μέση και ότι η έσω οθόνη ανοίγει 179 και όχι 180 μοίρες. Κατά τη γνώμη μου χαζομάρες, για αμερικανάκια reviewers.
Συμπέρασμα: Έγινε βασική μου συσκευή πλέον αφού η αναδίπλωση οθόνης δίνεται άλλες δυνατότητες, είναι άλλο πράγμα (πχ, ebook reader, gaming, επίσης οι εφαρμογές έχουν αναβαθμιστεί και φαίνονται πλέον σε όλη την οθόνη αν σας προβληματίζουν αρχικά reviews του 2023 που φαινόταν στη μία ή την άλλη πλευρά της οθόνης). Επίσης, έβαλα τον smartlauncher 6 που είναι free, σου δίνει άλλη διάταξη στην έξω και άλλη στην έσω οθόνη. Θήκη παραγγελία από amazon κατευθείαν, υλικό aramid fiber, kaisenkeg μάρκα με magsafe (έψαχνα Pitaka αλλά δεν πουλάνε πλέον).
Άμα χαλάσει τίποτα θα σας ενημερώσω. Πάντως η εντύπωση που δίνει είναι ότι είναι στιβαρή συσκευή, αν δεν κάτσει κάνας ελέφαντας πάνω (JerryRigEverything).
Fig: Στις εικόνες έχω τοποθετήσει πλέον τη θήκη (δεν την ξαναβγάζω συγνώμη) και τα έβαλα δίπλα-δίπλα με το s23 ultra για σύγκριση σε μέγεθος και πάχος συσκευής. Γεια σας.
Update μετά 5 μήνες συνεχούς χρήσης χωρίς πολύ ντάντεμα. Εσωτερική οθόνη σαν καινούργια χωρίς ξεκολήματα κτλ, παραμένει άλλη φάση. Όλα δουλεύουν όπως πρέπει, καλό σήμα, wificalling, 5g κτλ. Παιχνίδια μεχρι το 15λεπτο δεν χάνει frames μετά αρχίζει και ζεστένεται και laggarei ενοχλητικά. Από μπαταρία τελειώνω το 24ωρο με 20% (5ώρες screen on time), όλα ανοιχτά,. Έχει αφήσει στον πάγκο ένα S25 ultra, το βάζω για μία μέρα και μετά γυρίζω πίσω σε αυτό, αφού φωτογράφος δεν είμαι αλλά στραβός είμαι. Μικρογρατσουνιές μετά από αρκετές πτώσεις στην περιφέρεια την εξωτερικής οθόνης αφού την πρόσθια προστασία δεν την χρησιμοποιώ ποτέ. Τζάμι ακόμη σαν καινούργιο. Δεν θα παραξενευτώ αν το iphone fold όταν βγεί μοιάζει με αυτού αφού όταν ανοίγει είναι παραλληλογραμο και όχι τετράγωνο όπως άλλα. Τέλος βγάζει πολύ καλές φωτογραφίες τελικά ως pixel γαρ. Γειά....
