Description

The Nikon Mirrorless Z 8 has everything you want from a hybrid camera. Image quality, precision, flexibility, and a compact, lightweight body. From videos to photos. From professional work to unique projects.

Don't just create. Evolve.

Compact body. Top performance.

The Z 8 features the full set of functions of the Z 9 in a body that is 30% smaller than the Z 9 and 15% smaller than the D850. It is equipped with a 45 MP stacked CMOS sensor with impressive dynamic range, an amazing deep learning autofocus system, and subject and eye detection you can rely on.

The uninterrupted live viewfinder and the 4-axis tilting screen for shooting video, photos, or both. With the Z8, you will have the freedom to innovate and reliably elevate every frame.

Top versatility for video and photos

New ideas, tight budgets, quick transitions. Small setup or full rig. However and wherever you create, the flexibility of the Z 8 will keep your projects flowing. Shoot stunning 8K or 4K video directly from the camera at various frame rates, including slow motion.

Capture exceptional 45.7 MP photos, even if shooting under starlight. There are separate screen interfaces for video and photos, and the menu rotates if you shoot vertically.

8,3K/60p 12-bit RAW

Nikon's N-RAW creates files that are half the size of a ProRes RAW HQ file. It works for video up to 8.3K/60p or 4.1K/120p.

Codec in abundance.

Work with N-RAW, ProRes RAW HQ, ProRes 422HQ, MOV H.265, or MP4 H.264. N-Log and HLG recording modes.

Extremely fast 120 fps for photos

Don't miss the decisive moment. You can capture 11 MP quality photos at an incredible speed of 120 fps or 45.7 MP quality at speeds of 60 fps or 30 fps that freeze the action. All with full AF/AE and no viewfinder blackout time.

More control over portraits

Save time in post-processing by making adjustments while shooting. Portrait printing balance allows you to precisely adjust the hue and brightness. Skin softening smooths the appearance of the skin while keeping the eyes and hair sharp.

Pre-Shutter Release Capture

Event Photography?

The Z 8 boosts your reaction time by recording for up to one second before you take the shot. Subtle movements, unpredictable subjects: you'll capture the moments you might have missed.

Embrace the backlight. Love the darkness.

Night landscapes and backlit portraits? You can trust the Z 8's smart AF system. It maintains sharp focus on faces even in scenes with strong backlight. Subject detection and AF work down to -9 EV in Starlight mode.

High-resolution 2x zoom for 4K video

Zoom with fixed focal length lenses while shooting video! With the Z 8, a 2x optical zoom can be simulated, in-camera and in real time. The image quality is not affected, and you can program three different zoom speeds.

Vertical Battery Grip

You can use Nikon's MB-N12 battery grip for vertical shooting or to counterbalance telephoto lenses, as well as for extended shooting sessions. You have up to 1.8 times more operating time with two EN-EL15c batteries in the grip, and you can swap out the batteries. Additionally, you can use this grip as a dual battery charger when it is not connected to the camera.

Adapts to any setting

Weighing just 910 g (approx.), the full-frame Z 8 offers a comfortable grip and balances perfectly on any rig. Nikon's 'Remote Grip' MC-N10 allows precise control of the camera. And compatible third-party accessories, from gimbals to microphones and more, help elevate every shot.

It costs as much as a kidney but... an incredible machine.
    Nice grip and Nikon ergonomics.
Regarding the overheating that someone mentioned, this clearly has to do with the quality of the memory card each person chooses to put in the camera. The good ones, which do not overheat, unfortunately, are also expensive. But when you put one of those in, there is no overheating at all.
As for the capabilities of the Z8, they are simply out of this world. Excellent in everything.

If you want the top machine in your hands, with the corresponding price of course, this is the solution. Simply amazing.

I won't write much, as there are countless reviews. It's the Z9 in a smaller body. It does everything exceptionally well, from wildlife to astrophotography. Excellent in hand and in handling. It holds telephoto lenses very well and generally with large lenses. However, it is heavy, bulky, not at all discreet, and the battery life is not great.

The "kit" lens is a normal Nikkon S series zoom lens, I don't need to add much more I believe. It doesn't disappoint in the slightest, not even on the Z8.

This review is about the bundle: Body

Frequent issue with overheating but expected. Even when, for example, you are doing a wedding photoshoot and you are in the sun, it will show yellow marks twice. Somewhat expected but we're not talking about burst shooting. Reasonable limits. Just frequent shots. I have of course updated the firmware to the latest. Sometimes so far it has shown red so it is forced to shut down by itself, but it scares you. I have faced it several times. And I have also set the setting to get a notification when the temperature is higher. Either way, I would buy it again with my eyes closed. The autofocus is nothing like the Z6ii or Z7ii. Leaps ahead. It has now come close to Sony and Canon. Personally, it is more than enough. Also, it has a ton of positives like switching between video and photo with one click. And 4 different profiles with completely comprehensive changes. And a ton of customizations. I could talk for days
