Europe today: Mass unemployment, precarious working conditions, social expropriation, and the dismantling of democratic rights are particularly marking their stamp on the countries of the European periphery.
Due to inequalities among member states, the European Union and the Eurozone are threatened with collapse. Karl Heinz Roth and Zisis Papadimitriou analyze the causes of this disastrous development and demonstrate that the decline of Europe is primarily due to the low wage policies pursued by the economically export-dependent dominant Germany and its allies in the European core.
However, the authors propose an alternative solution, namely "decisive reforms" in all areas of social, economic, and political life, aimed at creating a Europe of solidarity and equality.
