After Alexander the Great's victory at Gaugamela in 331 BC, his Macedonian and Greek army engaged in a truly 'Herculean task' series of campaigns in regions that are today Iran, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. However, in the Indus Valley, on the banks of the Hydaspes River in 326 BC, Alexander would fight his last great battle against King Porus.
