The Ninja Gaiden game series has a long history that starts from the classic 1980s arcade game and extends to more recent titles developed for next-generation consoles by the legendary Tecmo-Koei development team, Team Ninja.

Ninja Gaiden 3 embraces the evolution of the series, incorporating new gameplay scenarios for the franchise, such as a deeper look into Ryu Hayabusa's past, the combination of realistic and modern combat situations with the classic skills of a ninja warrior, more accessible yet demanding gameplay, as well as – for the first time in the series – multiplayer options.
