At low numbers (e.g. 24, 36, 40…), there are few grains but of large diameter, making them ideal for quick smoothing of rough surfaces, while at high numbers (e.g. 180, 220, 320…), there are more grains with smaller diameter, ideal for intense sanding and smooth finishing.
