That night, a forest begins to grow in Max's room and an ocean bursts forth with a boat that will take Max to the place where the wild things are. Max tames the wild things and is crowned their king, and then the wild rumpus begins. But when Max sends the monsters to bed, and all becomes quiet, he starts to feel lonely and realizes it's time to go back to the place where he is loved most of all.
