Description

Since ancient times, the geese on the farm always go to the lake for their morning bath in a line, one behind the other, as if they are parading. Leading the way with pride is Tryfonas, the leader of the flock, setting the rhythm: One-two, one-two, one-two, one-two!

But suddenly: One-two, one-two, tap one-two, tap, one-two, tap! Something scandalous is happening and it greatly disturbs Tryfonas. Floreta, a small goose, newly arrived at the farm, is not following their rhythmic steps. Furious that she is disrupting a tradition they faithfully observe every day, he expels her from the flock and forbids her from going to the lake with them. Even the other geese look at her annoyed.

At first, Floreta obeys. However, she is hurt that her own flock isolates her simply because she walks differently. She does not understand why she must walk in rhythm since she neither learned to do so nor needs to. Her faith in herself is shaken, and she feels incapable, useless, and alone. But after a while, she reacts. No, she will be herself. She will walk as she knows and as she can. And she will go to the lake because she does not want to be alienated from the other geese. Thus, disobeying Tryfonas' strict order, she takes the path to the lake again. When she finally arrives, her surprise is great (and Tryfonas' even greater!). Because she discovers that when you are different, some will reject you but others will accept you.

A book about accepting ourselves with the abilities and capabilities we have, the hurtful exclusion, the thoughtless rejection of diversity, whatever form it takes, whoever it concerns.
