In the age of Cataclysm, conflict has engulfed every corner of Azeroth. Seeking more resources amidst the upheaval, the Horde has advanced into Ashenvale to fuel their war efforts. Unaware of the devastation unfolding in Ashenvale, the legendary night elf leaders, High Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind and Archdruid Malfurion Stormrage, hold a summit near Darnassus to propose the entrance of the proud worgen of Gilneas into the Alliance. However, the bitterness toward Gilneas and its leader, Genn Greymane, runs deep in King Varian Wrynn's Stormwind. When a murdered Highborne is discovered on the outskirts of Darnassus, Malfurion and Tyrande decide to prevent further bloodshed and unrest by appointing one of the most intelligent and capable night elf agents to find the killer: the renowned warden Maiev Shadowsong. However, with everything unfolding in Darnassus, the Alliance may be unable to stop the relentless new war chief Garrosh from seizing the whole of Ashenvale.
