The Epilobium tincture is derived from the immersion of the Epilobium flower in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the above herbs dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the creation of the tincture.
The Epilobium Tincture (Epilobium ciliatum) contains the same active ingredients as the dried Epilobium herb. In modern herbal therapy, Epilobium is considered to have:
- antibacterial action
- anti-inflammatory action
- antimicrobial action

Herbal therapists mainly use it to address issues of prostate hyperplasia, cystitis, and nephritis.
The positive effect of Epilobium in addressing early-stage prostate hyperplasia was announced in a scientific journal article in 1991, where it was mentioned that its anti-inflammatory action is 10 times greater than the synthetic substance indomethacin.
