Great adventures usually start where you least expect them…

Thirteen-year-old Iris knows this well because she has read them all. However, for a girl who feels suffocated in the small town where she lives, a real adventure seems like a distant dream. Sam, her best friend, doesn't mind that at all. He finds it exciting enough to catch insects and swim in the lake.

But when the two of them accidentally discover the almost dried-up bed of a river on the outskirts of town, they stumble upon a discovery much greater than anything Iris has ever read: A hidden city, lost in time, shrouded in mystery.
