Description

This is the second book featuring stories from the Time Machine, authored by journalists Christos Vasilopoulos and Dimitris Petropoulos. Within its pages, you will find 23 stories ranging from antiquity to modern times.

The cancellation of debts during Solon’s time, the taxes of the Turkish occupation, and the first special courts for politicians. The capture of Rhodes by Suleiman the Magnificent, who expelled the Knights of St. John. Marinos Andypas, who, despite being a foreman, incited the farmers before being murdered by the landowners.

Dr. Papankolou invented the Pap test, but he had to become a carpet salesman in America to make a living. Gabriella, the most famous prostitute in Athens, studied and helped many children. The 'Suberites' and 'Pouliki' were Greek collaborators of the German occupiers who murdered civilians.

During the December events of ’44, the civil confrontations highlighted Exarchia as an area that continually resists and challenges the power of arms. The Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan saved a significant part of the population from hunger, but also brought to light the corrupt political system.

In enslaved Cyprus, British colonizers set up nightmarish concentration camps for the EOKA rebels. Spyridoula was horrifically tortured by her masters with hot iron. The torturers of the junta police helped the 'revolution' prove how clean their hands were.

These are some of the 23 stories of 'Guilty and Innocent' that either characterized or stigmatized our culture. Because at the Time Machine, we believe that our homeland is not the fields and high mountains, but our history and the people who wrote it.
