The special feeding device SpecialNeeds Feeder by Medela is designed for infants with cleft lip, cleft palate, and neurological disorders. The SpecialNeeds offers the following advantages for feeding your baby with breast milk:

  • Requires less time

Easy adjustment of milk flow

The single path membrane valve between the bottle and nipple ensures the prevention of air in the nipple. Additionally, the SpecialNeeds has a slot in the valve that allows you to adjust the milk flow by simply changing the position of the nipple in the baby's mouth. Even if your baby is latching gently, they are able to activate the milk flow.

Supports milk flow

Even with the gentlest and weakest suction, the baby can extract breast milk, satisfying their natural needs. By squeezing the nipple, you can help the milk flow, making it easier for your baby to drink.

For very small babies: the very small SpecialNeeds nipple

A smaller nipple is available for weak or premature newborns: the very small SpecialNeeds nipple. Simply replace the regular nipple with the very small SpecialNeeds nipple.

    My baby had a cleft in the soft palate. I am writing this review mostly as advice for parents with a similar problem. With this bottle, he was able to feed comfortably for the first 3 months, as he didn't need to suck on his own, but the parent can control the flow. I consider it a disadvantage that it has a plastic bottle, but it fits the classic NUK nipples. Another disadvantage is that it doesn't have a cap for the nipple, which makes it difficult for traveling. Around the middle of the fourth month, he started having difficulty, so we changed bottles and got the "Pigeon bottle," which unfortunately is not available in Greece and you have to buy it from abroad...
