The history of the fragrance

Eau de Cologne Impériale is the first cologne of the Guerlain perfume house. It was created in 1853 by Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain specifically for Empress Eugénie, the wife of Napoleon I. 

Thanks to this fragrance, Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain received the title of "Perfumer to His Majesty." The Empress had the exclusive right to use the fragrance before she granted permission for its sale. The label of the fragrance features the symbols of Napoleon's empire - the eagle, the imperial crown, and the scepter.
