The years 1946 - 1947 mark and encompass, from the perspective of events, all the military, political, and social preparation for the civil war, and in this sense, their historical significance is immense.
However, this is a biennium that has been scarcely researched and highlighted in historical studies. This volume comes to fill this gap—exhaustively concerning the perspective of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), but not only that.
The book includes all the published texts of Nikos Zachariadis from 1946 until the 3rd Plenary Session of 1947, when the KKE decided to fully transfer its actions to armed forms of struggle. Articles, presentations to party bodies, brochures, interviews, statements, speeches, letters, and a memorandum from the leader of the KKE to the sister communist parties and the Soviet leadership compose a scenario that sees the light of day for the first time gathered and temporally connected in this way.
These texts, along with the notes and extensive explanatory appendices, containing numerous unknown historical documents, change the narrative of the history of the era to which they refer, because they cover the gaps left by previous historical studies, where there are significant—and often inappropriate—omissions, while simultaneously reviving the historical reality in all its details.
This volume also includes a supplementary chapter with texts by Nikos Zachariadis from the period 1940 - 1945, which were not included in the previous volume Historical Dilemmas, Historical Answers, as they were found later.
