Description

A warning signal resonates throughout the book from its very first pages; the alarm sounded by Kafka that echoes in this world up to our troubled days. A signal that has been rising for a hundred years through revolutionary assaults on the sky and grim descents into Hell, like unheard music.

Music from places of annihilation, music from nothing, Musica ex Nihilo: the demand for a Justice without boundaries, without conditions, beyond laws and normative frameworks. The texts of the book seek the sound of the unheard. The music of silence in Kafka's work that struggles against the silent song of the Sirens of destruction. The voice of the voiceless in the Nazi death camps of annihilation as well as the children's choir singing Beethoven's 'Ode to Joy' in Auschwitz.

The voice of Jean Amery, as hard as steel, demanding a Justice for the Annihilated beyond the justice of retribution. The silent mourning in the images of Maus, the classic comic book by Art Spiegelman. The demand for Life, for Another Life, in the visual works of the mentally suffering from the Prinzhorn Collection and in the photographic art of the recovering individuals of 18 ANO.

For the demand for Life is inseparable from the demand for Justice, uncompromising in the face of every death. Poets like William Blake and Dionysios Solomos show us this, and in our days, Nikos Karouzos and Hector Kaknavatos. Much could be taught about this by a new, non-Platonic dialogue with Plato and his 'Republic', but also by an unorthodox new meeting with Marx and Trotsky.

The goal is to penetrate the nature of our very transitional era and to discover the horizon hidden by despair, the paradigm of a World to come. A poet like K.P. Kavafis saw our era with prophetic clarity in its beginnings. The brilliance of the hidden horizon may be revealed by the visual poetics of Light by Stephen Antonakos.

And the World that is coming, like the World of Landomir by the future poet of the October Revolution Velimir Khlebnikov, will extinguish all power relations between people, granting all power to the starry sky. The Music from nothing says that the ultimate enemy will be defeated. As the Book of Proverbs states, 'Justice saves from death'.
