Description

In the present issue, under the general title Philological Studies, my recent and unpublished works are included:

A. Ioannis Kondylakis, and not Alex. Papadiamantis, is the translator of the novel 'L' idee de Jean Teterol' by V. Cherbuliez, the work that inspired him to write 'Patoucha'.

B. Unknown Papadiamantic texts related to the events in Skiathos during December of the year 1908. The first refers to the revelation of the true translator of the novel 'L' idee de Jean Teterol' ('The Idea of Giannis Chondrokephalus') by Victor Cherbuliez, the fact that the translator Ioannis Kondylakis was inspired by the work he translated to write 'Patoucha', as well as a summary of the content of the translated work. Since the year 2001, I have stated that 'For the enormous translation work of I.D. Kondylakis, which is almost unknown today, I am preparing a related study'.

This work, an extremely laborious task, which includes the verification and recording of numerous anonymous translations by I.D. Kondylakis, continues and is nearing completion.

The second work of this issue refers to the events that took place in Skiathos in December of the year 1968, along with three related unknown Papadiamantic texts, which are also republished.
