Description

Description

The G.Skill RipjawsX RAM is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in video and image editing, designers, and those who require high performance from their computer.

DDR3

DDR3 is the third generation of RAM memory technology for computers. It replaces DDR2 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 800MT/s to 2133MT/s, latency (CAS Latency) from CL4 to CL19, while its capacity has increased up to 16GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger the size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for latency (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

The G.Skill RipjawsX provides speed at 1600MT/s, with CL10 and 8GB per memory module.

Compatibility

DDR3 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR3 is compatible with Intel 3rd & 4th Gen, Pentium, and Celeron processors, as well as AMD FX and Phenom II series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR3 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory without the need for manual adjustments. (XMP/EXPO) is easily activated from the BIOS, is available on certain RAM memories, and is supported by certain motherboards.

The G.Skill RipjawsX XMP profile with performances:

  • Speed (XMP): 1600 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP): 10-10-10-30
  • Voltage (XMP): 1.5V

Cooling & Design

The aluminum heatsink material, with its design including fins for heat dissipation, keeps the memory at a fairly low temperature even during the most demanding operations.

  • Unfortunately, I didn't get to use them much to have a complete opinion (the rest of the PC gave out on me), but they did their job just fine while I had them.

  • A great memory at a reasonable price. I installed them on a Gigabyte Gaming 3 motherboard and didn't need to make any adjustments in the BIOS, as they were recognized correctly right away. They had the same timings and frequency as the 8GB DDR3 modules they replaced. I didn't install them alongside the old ones because one RAM slot was damaged, which is why Micro ATX motherboards are not ideal.

  • They were immediately synchronized at 1600MHz through the XMP Profile on Gigabyte H87-HD3. The upgrade from 8GB to 16GB, and especially at these timings, was impressively noticeable, both in the computer's startup and shutdown and in the use of Windows with several windows open simultaneously and several tabs on Chrome. I recommend them also because of their excellent cost-performance ratio.
