Overdrive Pedal Two in One

The NUX Horseman is a unique pedal that combines two of the most sought-after overdrive pedals produced in the mid-'90s, honoring the legendary Centaur pedal.

  • It features 3 knobs for basic adjustments and 2 operating modes: Gold and Silver.
  • The Gold mode mimics the classic Centaur overdrive.
  • The Silver mode is an enhanced version with an expanded gain range.

In its sound composition, the Horseman is based on the voltage conversion circuit of the Centaur, with its characteristic design including an integrated OP AMP voltage converter, driving it to 18V for increased harmonics and faithful sound reproduction.

  • Clean Boost: Ideal when used in combination with an amplifier's gain channel or another drive pedal. By adjusting the Gain Output, the Horseman can be used as a clean boost.
  • Natural Distortion: Settings can be configured to distort the sound with two Schottky diodes performing waveform clipping. Schottky diodes are chosen for waveform clipping reproduction.
  • The gain control is dual, controlling low and mid frequencies, while the treble and volume are adjusted separately.

True Buffer Bypass: The NUX Horseman offers an optional bypass function. You can use the pedal in True Bypass mode to keep your signal intact when it is off.

  • It is recommended to choose buffer bypass mode if you have more than 4 pedals connected.
  • Press and hold the footswitch to activate the pedal. The LED indicator will show which bypass mode is active: RED for True Bypass and GREEN for Buffer Bypass.
  • The Gold and Silver modes offer two independent pedal sounds in one mini stomp box.

Adjustment Capabilities: Gain, Treble, and Output.

Voltage Converter: Optional True Bypass and Buffer Bypass.

Power Supply: 9V Negative Tip.

For its price, I consider it an excellent choice. I've had it for 3 months now and I love it. The silver function (if you hold down the footswitch, it activates) doesn't have any significant difference from the regular function, it just gives you a high gain feeling instead of crunch, but nothing crazy. It also works as a clean boost if you lower the gain and increase the output. You can do a lot with it, and it has a huge range of gain. I would say it easily becomes a distortion pedal if you max it out + silver.

Dual function. It does what it promises, boosts highs and functions as a clean boost with the treble knob at 12 o'clock.
