  • It will neither impress nor disappoint. For a small space recording musical instruments, it makes an acceptable recording.

3 stars because although it does the job, it's okay for something amateur at home.

With Steinberg UR12, I have to increase the input level above the middle in order to record, and then I have to increase the post volume because if I set the input to max, the sound won't be clear (it will have white noise).

For this reason, it's not suitable for calls or livestreaming because you have to be very close to the microphone to sound normal.

However, its construction is sturdy and it hasn't given me any extra problems in all these years (I bought it in 2020)

I bought it to use it with the Steinberg UR22 sound card. In order for it to work and be able to record, I had to have the input of the sound card at maximum. At 3/4 it wouldn't record anything unless I put my lips on the microphone. No, it wasn't defective! I sent it to the service within warranty, where it worked perfectly but with other consoles. The technicians said that only if I have the volume at maximum does the microphone work with this specific or similar sound cards. If you have more expensive consoles or sound cards, then you won't have a problem.

In the forums on the Steinberg website, there is a thread that specifically mentions that the Behringer C3 only captures sound with the UR22 sound card input at maximum.

This particular microphone has very low sensitivity (I think -18db) and if you don't have a very good and expensive console or sound card with strong preamplification in the inputs, it can't perform well.

So, before you buy it, make sure it is compatible with your equipment

A very good microphone with a very clear and high-quality sound that I use for recording instruments/voice, everyday speech, and as a primary microphone in some of my YouTube videos. Objectively, it is definitely worth the price for the quality it produces. I also use it with the Behringer Xenyx X1204USB mixer, and you can check out a comparison I made between this and others on my YouTube channel (Ntinaros Pot) https://youtu.be/ZVBYlDq9Eis

From the size (16.5 cm) and weight (420 grams), it is one of the best, if not the best, microphone in its price range. Although it is a bit heavy, it is very positive that it is heavy. Overall, I recommend it
