What is gold-plated 925 sterling silver?
Silver jewelry, like jewelry made from other materials, can take on the beautiful yellow color of gold through a simple process called gold plating. This process involves coating the silver with a thin layer of yellow gold. This lets you enjoy a gold-plated piece of jewelry without spending a lot of money, as you would if you bought a piece made entirely of gold.
Gold plating does not last forever and needs care and attention to preserve it. If it wears off over time, a refresh will restore it to its original condition.
What is 925 sterling silver with black plating?
Silver jewelry can take on a dark gray to black color through a simple process called black rhodium plating. The silver jewelry is coated with a thin layer of platinum, a precious metal, in black.
Black plating needs care and attention to last as long as possible. If it wears off over time, a refresh will restore it to its original condition.
