The volume includes the famous variations 'Weinen, Klagen', based on the cantata of the same title by Bach and motifs from the 'Crucifixus' of his B minor mass. Notable is the paraphrase of 'Hymne a Ste Cécile' by Gounod, which appears here for the first time in printed form. Also included are 'A la Chapelle Sixtine', based on Allegri's 'Miserere' and Mozart's 'Ave verum Corpus' (the section based on the dance from 'Ave verum Corpus' can be performed separately), the 'Rapsodie espagnole', a fantasy with themes from Beethoven's score for 'Die Ruinen von Athen', Liszt's arrangement of the Pilgrims' Chorus from Wagner's opera 'Tannhäuser', and 'Les adieux'. Additionally, it contains 'Reverie sur un motif de l'opéra Roméo et Juliette'.
