Tadeusz Szeligowski (1896-1963) was a versatile Polish composer with diverse interests. He was a lawyer by training and had studied musicology, philosophy, and music. With excellent teachers and a circle of friends that included prominent figures in the fields of science and the arts, he offered his wisdom in the service of Polish music. As an exceptional composer, he published music and organized the musical life of the country. In addition to operas, which were revived many times, he left works with exceptional vitality, such as the ''Green Songs'' (1929), ''The Angels Sang Sweetly'' and ''Under the Eaves of Snow'' for choir, as well as true ''hits'' like the ''Epitaph on the Death of Karol Szymanowski'' (1937), ''Sonatina for Piano'' and ''Quintet for Wind Instruments''. Among the instruments, a special place is occupied by works for cello and piano (''Orientale'', ''Dance'' and ''Poem''), as well as the ''Pastorale'' and ''Saraband'' for cello with organ accompaniment.
