Description

The Plustek OpticFilm 8200i SE is an extremely advanced 35mm film and photo scanner that offers high-quality results and unparalleled accuracy. This device scans film and photos with stunning resolution and detail, bringing your old files back to digital form with impressive quality.

The OpticFilm 8200i SE is equipped with SilverFast SE Plus 8 technology, which provides additional functions and tools for improving and editing your scans. With the support of digital file correction, you can restore the color, sharpness, and hue of your old films and photos, while the automatic focusing system ensures exceptionally sharp and clear images.

State-of-the-art imaging system

The Plustek OpticFilm 8200i SE is designed with state-of-the-art lighting and optical systems.

  • It uses a high-sensitivity color CCD sensor and LED lighting to ensure optimal image quality.
  • The built-in infrared channel detects dust and scratches on the film surface and automatically removes them.

High Resolution 7200 DPI

This 35 mm film scanner features a true optical resolution of 7200 dpi, ensuring sharp and vibrant images. The output files up to 68.9 megapixels are similar to those created by a full-frame digital SLR camera.

You can create high-quality enlargement prints up to 36” x 24”.

High Dynamic Range

The dynamic range is the range of recordable light from the darkest to the lightest in the exposed film that a scanner can read. With a dynamic range of up to 3.6 D, you will rediscover how beautifully and naturally the highlights and shadows in analog photography are rendered.

iSRD - Dust and Scratch Removal

Slides and negatives always have small dust particles and microscopic scratches on them, even when handled very carefully.

The OpticFilm 8200i scanner features an infrared channel that detects all the dust and scratches on the film surface. Infrared light has a very long wavelength, which allows it to pass through the emulsion of negative films and slide without resistance, unlike scratches and dust particles that reflect it. SilverFast iSRD uses this behavior as follows.

The image is scanned twice - the first is the normal scan and the second is the additional infrared scan that captures only defects like dust and scratches. Then, computational dust and scratch removal takes effect, only where the infrared channel has detected any defects without losing any significant detail.

It also supports Windows 10, even though it is not mentioned on the packaging. The main drawback is that the provided software (SilverFast SE Plus) comes with a user's guide of only 10 pages, and if you do not already have knowledge, you will find it difficult to properly utilize all its features. The company does NOT provide a full manual on its website, only fragmentary texts of a few pages for individual functions. I recommend a full installation of the software, because the videos help in the absence of a manual.

Excellent quality for its price. Clearly superior choice to any other flatbed scanner on the market for 35mm. The provided silverfast is perfect, but it requires deep knowledge for very good results.
