It does the job just fine. The litter that would normally scatter on the floor is trapped between the two layers, and the area around the cat's litter box stays clean. The mat is easy to clean/shake off.

It is the solution to the problem of sand scattering. It works perfectly by keeping the sand from the animal's paws and the cat is not bothered at all by stepping on it.
