Description

Description

Electronic water hardness and salinity meter. This tester will be useful in daily life for checking the purity of drinking water and in other applications (e.g., aquariums or laboratory tests). The device is very easy to use - simply remove the cap, immerse the electrodes in the tested water. The built-in LCD screen allows for accurate and readable measurement of water hardness (its impurities with inorganic compounds) and its temperature. It does not require external power sources (electric grid) and only one CR2032 battery, making it extremely portable and safe in contact with water.

The water hardness meter allows you to check the level of water contamination with inorganic substances. The meter is calibrated in "ppm" - parts per million, which is the most popular method in the world for determining the amount of chemical compound particles dissolved in water. The less contaminated the water is, the lower its electrical conductivity will be. Raw, unfiltered water can have a rating of up to 200 PPM or higher.

The EC conductivity of water can be considered as an indicator of its salt content; waters containing few ions have low electrical conductivity, while, for example, seawater has very high conductivity. The commonly used unit of water conductivity is μS/cm (= micro-Siemens/cm). Freshwater or lake water should have a conductivity between 300 and 1200 μS/cm.

Specifications

  • The controller is characterized by high measurement accuracy.
  • The measurement result is read on a clear LCD screen. You will immediately check if the water is safe for drinking and other uses.
  • The operation of the controller is surprisingly simple - just immerse the electrode in the water and the measurement result appears immediately on the reader.
  •  Built-in physical function buttons for easy use of the device.
  • The HOLD function stores the measurement result and the SHIFT function changes the TDS/EC measurement mode
  • A practical case is included - protects the device from damage.

I tried it with tap water, bottled water, filtered water, and well water. Exactly the same readings! Money wasted.

It does what it says. Very good. Well done. Also useful for anyone who has a dishwasher, for example, where you can select water hardness.

Completely unreliable device. Every time you put it in water, the reading increases. Even in the same water, after a while it changes the values, always upwards.
It showed bottled water as completely unsuitable and with a higher reading than tap water.
Wasted money. One of my worst purchases.

  • If it doesn't have a fresh battery, it shows random readings; with a half-used battery, it showed me water from the filter at 250-260 ppm, and as soon as I put in a new one, the same water showed 199. Of course, the measurements are indicative and show conductivity; for further analysis, a laboratory is needed.

It has good repeatability, meaning if it measures a sample at e.g. 30ppm, no matter how many times you measure or after 10 hours, it will show the same or very close value. The accuracy of the measurement seems to be fine, at least for simple home use (tested with deionized water and bottled water). Build quality is average - it's not waterproof, but for simple home use, it's just fine.

Very good measurements, I can't understand why they are so expensive since in the end they all do the same job, it's very simple!!!

So far it works just fine; however, I have not tried another similar device to compare measurements. The accuracy of the measurements according to the instruction booklet is ±2% and it can measure at temperatures from 0.1C to 80C.
