The eucalyptus essential oil is obtained from the tree botanically named Eucalyptus globulus through the process of steam distillation. Its color can range from clear to green-blue. Its scent is strong and familiar to everyone.
Usage and Benefits:
- Acts against respiratory infections and cough, aiding breathing in cases of colds.
- Helps relieve muscle pain, sprains, and poor circulation.
- Used for burns, blisters, herpes, cuts, wounds, skin infections, and insect bites.
Eucalyptus and its essential oil have been used in producing formulations with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antirheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, decongestant, and healing properties.
The eucalyptus essential oil blends very well with thyme, lavender, lemongrass, pine, and lemon.
Safe Use:
- Do not use essential oils on the body. Use a carrier oil such as almond oil, jojoba oil, etc., and mix in a ratio of 10ml (carrier oil) to up to 5 drops of essential oil.
- Should be avoided by pregnant women and children under 5 years old.
- Individuals with heart conditions and hypertension should use it cautiously and seek medical advice.
- Avoid sun exposure for 12 hours after using any essential oil from citrus fruits such as lemon, orange, etc.
