Description & Specifications

Catappa leaves, also known as Indian almond leaves, come from the Terminalia catappa tree. They have chemical therapeutic properties that can help combat mild bacterial, fungal, or parasitic infections. These leaves are great for many different types of animals, such as bettas, shrimp, and community fish.

In nature, Terminalia catappa leaves fall into rivers and other water bodies, dyeing the water a rich "tea" brown color as they decompose. This is due to the chemical compounds they contain, known as tannins. Catappa leaves are often used in blackwater setups to achieve a deeper brown water color and to provide leaf litter at the bottom.
